In May 2008, Comunicad was awarded with a Silver Communicator Award from the International Association of the Visual Arts for the Latino Móvil logo.
Latino Móvil is the leading and only U.S.-based provider of news information, sports, and entertainment directly from Latin American countries to U.S. cell phone users via short message service (SMS) technology. This venture, which launched its services nationwide on January 14, 2008, under the campaign theme of “Your country, your news,” is a joint venture between Comunicad and Latino Móvil, a US-based company that provides tech support to cell phone companies.
Additional features include Mobile Machine, which allows subscribers to download audio and video content from Latin American news sources to their cell phones via Bluetooth technology. Currently, AT&T/Cingular, Sprint Nextel, Verizon, Alltel and Dobson are official wireless carriers and the service provides news from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Mexico. For 2009, Latino Móvil will expand to include additional carriers and countries.
